It was a busy weekend for a few of our athletes. Friday evening and all day Saturday was the Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships in Carmarthen and the third Louise Arthur League match of the season was held in Swansea on the Sunday.

THIS WEEKEND, the 6/7/8 June will be a busy one for Dyfed and the harriers - the competition starts this Friday evening in Carmarthen (Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships) and finishes at Swansea later on Sunday afternoon (Louise Arthur League). The club will also be hosting visitors from Australia. Full Details on all the weekend events are available via this link.

Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay - Tuesday 27th May PDF Print E-mail

Carmarthen welcomed the Commonwealth Games Queen's Relay Baton on Tuesday May 27th. After spending the day in the Urdd Eisteddfod at Bala on the Monday, the baton travelled south to Carmarthenshire. It started at 8am in Laugharne, before visiting Carmarthen Leisure Centre, Ammanford and Llanelli. The baton returned to Carmarthen Town Centre in the evening for celebrations.

There were 371 entries for this year's Championships with many good performances from Carmarthen Harriers athletes. Results are now available on the RESULTS PAGE, along with some other events during the weekend. The harriers collected over 45 medals.

Many congratulations to everyone that took part in this year's London Marathon held on a warm and sunny day on the streets of the English Capital (13th April), including the thirty-six athletes from six age groups that were selected to represent Welsh Schools in the 2014 London Mini Marathon. Hopefully you all enjoyed the experience. This was the twelfth year that the association has been invited to enter teams in this prestigious event.

Ben Thomas (30) and Iestyn Williams (51) both ran in the U13 Boys race, members of Carmarthen Harriers.

The Annual Dyfed (Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire) Primary Schools Cross Country Championships were held at the United Counties Showground Carmarthen on Thursday 3rd April 2014.Despite rain forecasted all day, the championships were held on a dry and mild evening, but wet underfoot, and muddy in places, after the rain earlier in the day.

Despite the recent heavy rain over the last few days and weeks, the championships were held on a reasonable dry but windy day in Llandeilo. It provided a tough test for all the athletes and a "true cross country course." You can read the FULL REPORT now by clicking HERE

A number of Carmarthen Harriers members were nominated and short-listed in a wide range of awards at this year's Carmarthenshire Sports Personality Awards 2013, held at the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanellion Wednesday January 29th 2014. In it's 16th year, The Annual Awards event recognised the sporting achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers in Carmarthenshire providing an opportunity to congratulate and honour today's accomplished sports people. The quality of entries received this year reflected the wealth of sporting talent here in Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthen Town Sports Awards evening was held at the Carmarthen Quins Club on Friday 31st January 2014.  Carmarthen Harriers again this year had a successful evening winning three main awards and three runners up awards
